More than 100 campers and staff attended the Central District Summer Youth Camp at Sand Hill Lake Bible Camp in Fosston, Minnesota, July 29-Aug. 3.

The event included junior camp for ages 10-13 attended by 45 campers and senior camp for ages 14-18 attended by 39 campers. Eleven churches were represented, including seven MB churches.

“We are fortunate to have the location we do not only because of the beauty found in northern Minnesota but because we are able to ‘split’ the camp into two groups,” says camp coordinator Abby Giwojna. “This allows us to essentially put on two camps at the same time, which helps with age-appropriate games, activities and speakers.”

Jon Annin, lead pastor of Stony Brook Church, Omaha, Nebraska, served as senior camp speaker. He shared about pivotal conversations from the book of John.

Junior camp speakers were Bryant Swiers, Strawberry Lake Mennonite Church, Ogema, Minnesota, and Logan Pikop, Stony Brook. Their messages centered on Colossians 3:12-14 and included topics such as being chosen, virtues God asks of believers as his chosen and God’s love.

Giwojna and her husband, Luke, were first-time camp coordinators, taking over from Ron and Karri Muff. The Giwojnas attend Christ’s Community Church in Jump River, Wis., and formerly attended Renewal MB Church in Rapid City, S.D., where Abby was on staff.

“Overall, I think the week was pretty much the best,” Giwojna says. “We all had a great time and left camp with some great memories, awesome friends and a deeper relationship with Christ. I always love seeing God move in the lives of the campers and the leaders as well.”
