The U.S. Mennonite Brethren Conference’s Central District announced a fundraising effort May 5 to assist Grace International Church, Indianapolis, Indiana, with rebuilding after a fire on March 20 caused significant damage to the church’s building.
The Central District is matching gifts up to $5,000, with the goal of raising $10,000 or more by June 10. Donations can be made online at centralmb.churchcenter.com/giving/to/grace-international-church or by mail to Central District, 26865 433rd Ave., Bridgewater, SD 57319.
Samuel Hailemariam, lead pastor of Grace International Church and USMB leadership board member, shared a brief video testimonial from inside the damaged building.
“Currently, our leadership is planning to renovate this building,” Hailemariam says in the video. “We have a lot of work ahead of us. We believe and hope that God would bring forth something beautiful and amazing to his glory out of this smoky and ashy house.”
Hailemariam says he appreciates the prayers and support from everyone and hopes to share updates as progress is made.
Daniel Rodriguez, Central District minister, shares in the video this is a great opportunity to share the love of Christ with another church.
“It’s our opportunity to come alongside them and raise some money so we can help them rebuild their place of worship and gather again and continue the mission that they are doing in their context, in their community,” Rodriguez says.
In additional to giving financially, the Central District encourages people to:
- Pray for Grace International Church
- Share the cause with congregation members
- Encourage Pastor Hailemariam
- Host a mini fundraising event
