Don Morris, USMB national director, is asking U.S. Mennonite Brethren to join him in 24 hours of fasting and prayer July 7-8.

“I’m asking each of us to consider fasting and praying for 24 hours beginning the evening of July 7 through the evening of July 8,” Morris writes in the June 5 issue of Snapshot, a news and prayer request email. “I feel God is asking us to go before him in prayer—asking for a movement among us, to use us for his work, for renewed passion for evangelism and outreach. But above all, to spend time listening to his voice. To be in his presence and to worship.”

For those who are not able to fast from food, Morris suggests fasting from something else one does on a daily basis.

Morris is hosting an informal online gathering Friday morning, July 7, via Zoom for a time of prayer in preparation for the spiritual discipline of fasting and discussion about the focus of the 24 hours of fasting and prayer. Participants are asked to register their intention to attend the Zoom call.
