Thanks to the generosity of many, the Eastern District fundraising goal of $40,000 has been reached as of October 28, 2024.

MB Foundation established the Eastern District Relief Fund to help meet urgent needs in North Carolina, where two Mennonite Brethren church buildings sustained flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Congregation members also lost possessions and some were displaced from their homes.

In response to the relief fund, Eastern District Minister James Moore says, “I thank God for your willingness to work alongside the Eastern District in such a time as this. Thanks to God and our MB family, we will get through this!”

Just over $42,500 was raised in the 10 days since the fund was established.

“The quick response to the relief fund has been an affirmation to the generosity of our MB family,” says Jon C. Wiebe, MB Foundation president and CEO. “It is our privilege to be the conduit and steward of these gifts of support.”

Funds received beyond what is needed for hurricane relief will be available for general ministry support of the Eastern District Conference.
