Mission USA hosts church health seminar
Mission USA announcement
Mennonite Brethren pastors and church leaders in the Midwest are invited to the first of hopefully many regional LEAD (Leadership Education And Development) seminars hosted by Mission USA. The first LEAD seminar features Craig Groeschel, pastor of LifeChurch.tv, and is hosted Feb. 24 by Memorial Road MB Church, Edmond, Okla.
This LEAD seminar begins at 9 a.m. with a continental breakfast at Memorial Road. Participants will have the rare opportunity to have lunch at LifeChurch, visit with Groeschel and hear him speak about "Mindset Shifts." Because of this luncheon, participants are asked to RSVP no later than Thursday, Feb. 10.
Don Morris, director of Mission USA and organizer of this event says, "The U.S. Conference has a desire to provide ever-improving assistance for our pastors and church leaders, providing them with unique leadership ideas as they guide our churches into the future,” says Don Morris, Mission USA director and organizer of the event. “In fact, we are in the process of developing a national church health program that encompasses a variety of leadership modules and tools.”
Morris says he hopes this first LEAD seminar will help him better understand what specific needs pastors and church leaders would like to discuss and how LEAD seminars can address these issues.
“It's very unusual for Craig Groeschel, lead pastor of a huge multi-site ministry, to provide this kind of leadership input for a small group like ours, but I am very appreciative that he is,” says Morris. “I think it will be a very fulfilling event, and I pray we have a bunch of people. There is no limit on how many people can participate, so we hope churches will fill a car or van with leaders and come to Edmond."
The one-day seminar will also include presentations on three additional topics based on work done by leading church health specialists. Southern District Conference minister Tim Sullivan will review the church survey developed by Leadership Transformation, Inc., and Mission USA director Don Morris will review Patrick Lencioni’s work on the five dysfunctions of a team. Derk Madden, MB pastor from Discovery Bible Fellowship of Collinsville, Okla., will make a presentation based on Andy Stanley’s work on systems and organizations.
Reservations for this first LEAD seminar are made with Lori Taylor at the West Coast USMB office. Participants can contact Taylor at lori@usmb.org
