Fred Leonard has accepted the role of U.S. regional team leader for Multiply, mission agency of Mennonite Brethren churches in North America. Leonard, lead pastor of Mountain View Church in Fresno, California, will start March 1.
Multiply has been praying and discerning for this role for many months, according to a press release from Multiply’s general director, Bruce Enns. This role will develop the U.S. team and give leadership to mission initiatives and priorities, alongside and supporting the U.S. Mennonite Brethren national conference.
Decades of missions-mindedness
Leonard and wife, Esther, have been involved in missions and evangelism through church planting their entire married lives. They served with Multiply (formerly MB Mission) in Bogota, Colombia, from 1987–1991. Later, they planted Mountain View Church in Fresno in 1993. Both have a passion for the gospel, the Scriptures, prayer, evangelism and leadership development through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Enns states that Multiply is excited about how the Leonards’ experience can bring fruitfulness and global mission engagement to USMB churches.
Regarding this new role, Leonard says, “I am excited about the opportunity to serve in the USA and beyond to encourage missional DNA that sees the gospel advance into our world. I am honored to encourage and help our churches send workers into the fields that are white for harvest.”
