Iglesia Los Hechos Lincoln Glen in San Jose, California, welcomed visitors, family and friends to the church’s first service on Sunday, Feb. 1.
Alex and Katherine Maravilla are leading the new church, which shares a building with another U.S. Mennonite Brethren congregation—Lincoln Glen Church. Read about the partnership between the churches.
Attendees at the church’s first service included members from Los Hechos Lincoln Glen’s sending church, Iglesia Los Hechos, as well as Aaron Box, USMB national director; Jordan Ringhofer, Pacific District minister; and Caesar and Maria Salazar, from the Pacific District’s Board of Home Missions and Hispanic Church Council.
Tyler Cole, pastor of Lincoln Glen Church, attended the launch of Los Hechos Lincoln Glen on Feb. 1 and shared in an email that the room was packed and he had to step outside the room often due to the high attendance and lack of seating.

In a post on Los Hechos Lincoln Glen’s Facebook page the day after the launch, Maravilla shared the following words: “It wasn’t just a service. It was the presence of God manifesting, tears, hugs, smiles, worship and open hearts. We could feel how God reminded us that when he opens a door, no one can close it, and that everything that is born in his hands flourishes in his time. We are deeply grateful to God because without him none of this would be possible.”
