MB Foundation announced the promotion of Joel Soo Hoo to chief financial officer in a press release from Nov. 19, recognizing his unwavering commitment to the organization’s mission.
Soo Hoo began his career at MB Foundation in 2001 as a staff accountant and was promoted to treasurer in 2003 and promoted to vice president in 2007. After 25 years of dedicated service, Soo Hoo now steps into the role of CFO, continuing his commitment to financial stewardship and leadership within the organization.
Over the past 25 years, Soo Hoo has played a significant role in strengthening MB Foundation’s financial position and guiding its growth. When he first joined the organization, MB Foundation managed approximately $40 million in assets. Today, that figure has grown to $420 million.
“Joel has demonstrated steady and responsible financial leadership at MB Foundation for over two decades,” says Jon Wiebe, president and CEO of MB Foundation. “His promotion to chief financial officer recognizes his dedication and loyalty throughout the years and his contribution to the growth and mission of MB Foundation.”
As CFO, Soo Hoo oversees budgeting, cash flow management, accounting and financial reporting, while advising the executive team on financial strategy. He also manages financial, operational and regulatory risks to ensure continued organizational strength.
“My career at MB Foundation has been rewarding,” says Soo Hoo. “I am excited to transition into this new role and look forward to continuing our mission of financial stewardship and supporting ministries for years to come.”
