MB Foundation is celebrating its 35-year anniversary of incorporation, a meaningful milestone in its ongoing mission of providing biblical financial stewardship solutions.
MB Foundation was officially incorporated on Dec. 28, 1990, but its story began long before that.
A legacy of biblical stewardship
For more than a century, Mennonite Brethren believers have embraced a spirit of generosity for kingdom work. It started in 1880, when the Mennonite Brethren Conference in North America first called churches to unite in raising funds for missions and spreading the gospel.
That early commitment to stewardship grew steadily over the decades, shaping a strong tradition of giving. Ultimately, this enduring legacy laid the groundwork for MB Foundation’s formal incorporation in 1990.
Incorporation was a pivotal step that brought clarity and structure to overlapping operations, strengthened confidence among constituents and professional communities, and reinforced the ministry’s commitment to excellence and professionalism.

Ministry growth
The ministry’s growth—from the Stewardship Department to MB Stewardship Ministries, and ultimately to MB Foundation—has been driven by a desire to steward God’s resources with excellence. At each stage, the ministry has expanded its reach and impact through various programs, personalized services and creative giving options.
At the time of incorporation, MB Foundation managed $16.9 million in assets, had a $10.5 million loan portfolio and operated with a team of five staff members. Today, the ministry manages $420 million in assets, a $142 million loan portfolio and serves with a team of 24 staff members.
Partnership and service
MB Foundation partners with more than 2,000 individuals and ministries nationwide to faithfully manage God’s resources. Its services include planned giving, fund management, championing biblical stewardship resources, investment certificates and a loan program—all designed to help others steward their financial resources for Christ and his kingdom.
