Agency to share space with local church
MB Mission press release
Like a family outgrowing their home or vehicle, MB Mission is at a point of transition. To accommodate the large groups that are attending Missionary Training Equipping (MTE) and the number of people attending Spring Adventure as they consider mission work, MB Mission will be moving is offices and staff to the Northview Community Church campus in Abbotsford, BC.
For the past 12 years, MB Mission has been housed on the Columbia Bible College campus in Abbotsford, and the college has adapted to meet the agency's increasing need for office and training space. MB Mission's current size now requires more space, however, than can be accommodated on campus.
The decision to partner with a local church in office needs fits the strategy of the mission agency in its work. "We are the global mission expression of 430 MB churches from across the U.S. and Canada," says MB Mission in announcing the move. "It fits our missional DNA to partner with a local church as we strive to carry out the vision God has given us."
Northview Community Church in constructing a new office and ministry center and invited the MB Mission Abbotsford staff team to share the space that they are constructing on their site. While Northview’s facilities are used extensively on evenings and weekends, they are underutilized during weekday office hours, when the mission agency's need for office and training space is greatest.
MB Mission is anticipating training 15 new long term workers this September (with childcare needs for up to 10 preschool children). This arrangement allows for cost savings, efficient space utilization and, more importantly, creates a unique opportunity for MB Mission to shape and expand its focus on the mission of local churches across North America.
The proposed move is slated to take place in the fall of 2012.
