Tabor College, the MB college in Hillsboro, Kansas, will add a dance program to its athletic offerings in Fall 2025.
The new program, which will work alongside the college’s cheer program, will be led by head cheer and dance coach Krista Matlock and associate head cheer coach Rylee Yoder. Amanda Abrahams will join the program as new associate head coach for dance.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to bring a dance program to Tabor and to work alongside such talented coaches, faculty and inspiring students,” Matlock says. “We’re excited about the potential growth this will bring to campus life, and we look forward to this new chapter together.”
The dance team will showcase pom routines at basketball and football games and a variety of other campus events.
“In addition to enhancing the game day experience with halftime performances where various genres of dance are featured, we are looking forward to engaging the community through Tabor dance clinics and yearly recitals,” Matlock says.
The program will offer opportunities for outreach and student engagement, Matlock says.
“We are excited to disciple students via the meaningful connections created through dance,” she says. “Our hope is that this program can foster a sense of community and provide a space for self-expression allowing participants to use their gifts and talents that God has blessed them with—ultimately to glorify him.”
The program is the newest addition to Tabor’s athletics department since swimming and diving was added in 2014-15.
