
Two April Mennonite Relief Sales in Kansas and California have brought in a combined $800,000 for world relief, according to preliminary sales reports.
Proceeds from both sales benefit Mennonite Central Committee, a world relief organization providing material needs and community development in the name of Christ.

Kansas sale
The 58th annual Kansas Mennonite Relief Sale, held April 9-10 in Hutchinson, Kansas, reports preliminary sales of $589,096.32.
Sale activities included general, quilt and silent auctions, a 5-k run/walk, kids’ games and more.
In the general auction, a 1913 Buick Roadster—the oldest model car ever donated to the sale—sold for $24,800.
The quilt auction featured more than 200 handmade quilts, comforters and wall hangings, with the highest quilt selling for $3,200. Meanwhile, the highest-going item in the silent auction was a marble tower selling for $2,500.
New this year was the mobile booth, Just Cause a Fair Trade.
Featured food at the Kansas sale included bohne beroggi, borscht, cherry moos, chicken BBQ, burritos, New Year’s cookies and verenike.

California sale
Meanwhile, the 59th annual West Coast Mennonite Relief Sale, held April 10-11 at Fresno Pacific University, Fresno, California, brought in $211,000.
Activities included quilt, silent and online auctions, a 5-k run, kids’ scavenger hunt, live music on the green and more.
Featured food in California included fritters, zwieback, burritos, tacos and BBQ Tri-tip sandwiches.
