Pastors and ministry leaders involved in leadership development have been invited by Don Morris, USMB national director, to a vision summit that will be held in early January 2024.

Morris anticipates 40 leaders will attend the by-invitation-only event scheduled for Jan. 8-10, 2024, and hosted by Copper Hills Church in Peoria, Arizona.

Morris and the National Strategy Team are planning four sessions that will begin with a focus on the purpose of the summit, move to the current church and educational culture and conclude with developing an action plan. Sessions will include prayer and worship, open discussions, table discussions, short, concise TED Talk-style presentations and a question-and-answer time with Fresno Pacific University president André Stephens and Tabor College president David Janzen.

“The plan is to gather leaders to discuss options for how we can do a better job of developing leaders and then to come up with an action plan moving forward,” Morris writes in the Nov/Dec issue of Christian Leader. “The leadership development deficit we experience as Mennonite Brethren is experienced by nearly every denomination in the United States. We must actively encourage young people to consider using their God-given gifts for pastoring, church planting, missionary work, evangelism, youth ministry, worship leading and teaching.”
