An Ascent Base Camp will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Hillsboro (Kan.) MB Church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A joint event between USMB, the Southern District Conference and Multiply (formerly C2C Network and MB Mission), Base Camp is a one-day immersion in the vision, values, tools and training required for the church planting venture. Attendees will learn from seasoned church planters and receive input from church planting strategists to help discern if this is a “climb” he or she should attempt.

“Ascent is a grassroots type of event designed to be helpful to anyone considering the call to plant a church or vocational ministry,” says U.S. church planting mobilizer Chris Douglas. “We talk about the Gospel, the call, the competencies, partnership and next steps of planting. Students, interns, pastors, those working in the marketplace (and) anyone who is exploring God’s call on their lives is welcome.”

The event is targeted toward senior leaders who bring along younger leaders with whom they are working; young leaders who may not yet know how God has gifted and called them; anyone who is curious about the calling and challenges of church planting; those, including students, considering a call to ministry, regardless of the specific field or path; people who sense God may be calling them specifically to plant a church and anyone who loves their city and wants to see more gospel outposts established.

“We’ll bring in three or four of the U.S. church planters and spend a day just casting a vision for what church planting is,” says Multiply North American Director Mark Burch.

“We do six 20- to 25-minute talks and then a bunch of interactive Q and A throughout the day,” Burch says. “They get to ask any and every question they’ve got about church planting. Our hope is that we’ll plant those seeds, and then it might be five years later, but they come back to us in an interview and assessment process.”

Early bird registration rate is $20 per person. One week before the event, the cost will increase to $25. For more information, or to register, visit: www.ascentbasecamp.com.
